01 — The object

Hard structure.
Soft matter.

Handgemaakt in contrast.
The frame

Exposed steel, drawn in square tube.

The frame is never hidden. Side frames, sled runners and cross members carry the upholstery and give the chair its architecture. Finished in a protected corten look.

The armrest

Tufting that continues over the arm.

The upholstery rolls over the armrest and meets the steel in a tight, clean joint — soft against hard, at the exact point where the hand rests.

Continuous tufting
The sections

Individually padded. Deeply tufted.

Every section is its own small cushion, separated by deep recessed tufting points. Light falls into the seams and the surface becomes topography.

02 — Materials

Staal. Structuur.
Zachtheid.

A material study in contrast: coated steel against dense foam and tufted yarn. What the eye reads as a single object is a dialogue between the hard and the soft.

Make the Magical Things Happen is a tufting studio from Rotterdam, turning industrial materials and handmade textile techniques into unexpected objects.

Two crafts that rarely meet: the precision of metalwork and the patience of tufting.

The frame is designed first, as a drawing in steel. The upholstery is then built around it, section by section, so that the soft volume and the hard line belong to each other. Nothing is hidden: the construction is the ornament.
